Hospital iPhone Application

15. April 2009

Dear Tony

Thanks at first for this many good invested hours listening to the Hospital Records Podcast. Right as now, looking outside the window of my Bauwagen into a beautiful place of nature in the northern countryside of Berlin. The sun is shining, birds are tweeting, I can see some early flowers and all the rest is going to become green. How marvellous is that? Here some thoughts which are running through my mind while I’m enjoying this moment and thinking about a Hospital iPhone Application. The first: I wonna have it!

Ok, now it’s dark outside. I mean really dark. Millions of stars are visible on a moonless sky. A dog is barking somewhere in the distance to tell another one something about his life. I’m feeling well after a delicious sausage over a warming up spring fire. So let’s see what I can do with the App.

  1. Key component: Podcast management. Download, play, archive, search – maybe an iTunes integration. Get artist and tour info’s while listening. Buy and download from the Hospital store or iTunes, similar to the last.fm application.
  2. Hospital shop, similar to the eBay application. Full text search and categorized browsing in and through the store, buying and subscribing.
  3. Social network features: Manage my account/profile, Upload tracks from my iTunes library as demos and check their current status, sharing and commenting features in my network, maybe similar to the bookshelf in facebook. All the label artists could be the first. So they can give me some feedback to my demos if I added or requested them.
  4. Push notification to my Hospital icon if there is anything new, e.g. new podcasts, comments or contacts updates, any other label news.
  5. Calendar feature with gig info’s and line-ups and maybe a photo gallery.

Silence outside. Only some mysterious noises are coming from the black forest. The glow in the furnace is almost off. But the stones on it saved the heat and I have some warm hours left. Midnight is over now and a last thought for today is present: With the new iPhone OS 3.0 which is upcoming this year it will be possible to implement push notification and buying/subscribing inside an application. So it’s only a question of time, my dream can go on …
